Book Scanning

The Book Scanning Process

The books are placed by an operator onto the scanner's dynamic book cradle. This holds the book at a low-stress angle to prevent damage to rare or fragile bindings.

The book's pages are turned using a robotic vacuum arm for precise and delicate handling at a rate of up to 1200 pages an hour.

Once each page has been turned two clips flip out to hold the book in place. The page is digitally photographed and saved to a raw image file.

All images are taken in full colour using a 16.6 mega pixel camera. The resolution is between 300-600 dpi, providing exceptional quality throughout the whole of the scanned document. Images can be processed and supplied in colour, grey scale or black and white.
